Orchestra Tour 2011 (Heritage Festival @ Florida)

During Spring Break 2011, members of Orchestras I, II & III travelled to Flordia to perform at the Heritage Festival and Disneyland. They were joined by the members of the AHS Choirs (Chanteurs & New Spirit) and the Orchesis Dance Company.

April 1:

All groups arrived safely at their Orlando lodgings with the exception of 22 travellers in the "United1" group who missed their connecting flight to Orlando from Washington Dulles due to a late departure (by 2 hours) from LAX. They will arrive in Orlando in the afternoon of April 2 after an overnight stay at a local hotel in the Dulles area courtesy of United Airlines.

April 2:

Orchestras I, II & III performed at the Heritage Festival held at the Osceola Performing Arts Center to great acclaim form the adjudicators. All orchestras won top awards in their groups/classes as well as all the sweepstakes awards.

The New Spirit and Chanteurs choral groups performed at the Heritage Festival held at the Pine Castle United Methodist Church. They too won top awards in their groups/classes as well as sweepstakes.

The delayed travellers in the "United1" group all arrived safely in Orlando from Washington Dulles by early evening. They were split into 2 smaller groups due to seat availability on United flights. Tributes are due to Cindy and Manny Caldera who ably chaperoned this group through their epic journey!

April 3:

Day at Universal Islands of Adventure. Transfer to Disney World with lodgings at All Stars Music resort.

April 4:

All orchestral, choral and orchesis dance groups performed at the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney. Of the 9 performance time slots at this location, 7 were AHS.

April 5:

The official tour group photo session outside the Magic Kingdom Castle in Disney World was washed out by a sudden but ferocious morning thunderstorm. Rest of the day free at Disney World parks.
