18th Annual Orchestra Benefit Dinner - February 25th 2012
All music lovers are welcome to the Arcadia High School Orchestra Benefit Dinner that will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Arcadia Community Center. This year we will continue our timely tradition of showcasing our very talented orchestra students as well as our special guest artists, Oak and Gorski, a cello and guitar duo.
The theme for this year's fundraising event is String Enchanted Evening (a word play on the song “Some Enchanted Evening” from South Pacific by Rodgers & Hammerstein). Guests are encouraged to wear formal to semi-formal attire to fit the theme of a romantic evening.
The evening will commence with guests arriving at 5:30pm for appetizers and to bid on the silent auction items. Pre-dinner entertainment will be provided by roving student musicians who have auditioned for the role by our Orchestra Directors.
The dinner will be catered by a favorite local restaurant, Burger Continental, at 6pm.
After the dinner service, the entertainment for the evening will begin at around 7pm. Our very accomplished orchestra students will entertain satisfied diners with a number of chamber music ensemble pieces. The highlight of the evening will be a performance by our guest artists, Ken Oak and Ed Gorski, who also play for Disney. They will pleasantly surprise you with their unique blend of country folk and chamber rock.
Finally, the night will culminate with the grand finale, an incredible “surround sound” experience that consists of 330 high school string musicians completely filling in the spaces of the room to surround guests with beautiful string music. This will be THE place for a string enchanted evening—a magical experience with excellent dining, friends, fun, and musical delight.
Tickets to the dinner will be available soon. Please fill out a downloadable ticket order form (see link below or on left). As in previous years, we expect to sell out well in advance of the day. No tickets will be available at the door.
In addition, please consider supporting our orchestras by placing an advertisement in the program book and/or making a tax deductible donation. Both can be done using the parent order form or the community flyer (see links below or on left). We are in need of silent auction items, so if you have something in new condition to donate, or things like gift cards or services, please consider giving items for the benefit of this event. Remember that personal ads acknowledging students are 50% off. What a great way to show support for your student!
All fundraising proceeds go toward defraying the costs of the music program such as performing in events and for other essentials such as purchasing instruments, sheet music, supplies, and more.
