16th Annual Orchestra Benefit Dinner - February 27th 2009

 

The 16th annual Arcadia High School Orchestra Benefit Dinner will be held on Saturday February 27th 2010 in the Arcadia Community Center. The theme for this year's fund raising event is "Cirque du Orchestre" and it promises to be an entertaining evening in an orchestral circus.

The evening kicks off with guests arriving at 5:30pm for appetisers and a browse through the silent auction items. Pre-dinner entertainment will be provided by roving minstrels and a magician, all drawn from the ranks of our highly talented orchestra students. A slideshow of photographs of previous orchestra performances and activities will run during this period.

Dinner will be served at 6pm. The menu selection includes "Chicken Bistango", "Baked Alaskan Cod", rice pilaf, roast red potatoes followed by dessert comprising of delectable "petite fours".

After the dinner service, the entertainment for the evening will begin at around 7pm. Our highly gifted orchestra students will entertain satisfied diners with a number of chamber music ensemble pieces. The highlight of the evening will be performances by our guest artists, The Hutchins Consort, who are renown for playing eight scaled violins, from the tiny treble violin, to the gigantic large bass violin . Imagine a room full of 300 diners being surrounded by another 300 odd high school string musicians. This is what the grand finale for the evening will be like - a true "surround sound" sensation. Where else but in Arcadia can such a wonderful experience be had. Naturally the music for the grand finale will follow a suitable circus-like theme.

Please order your benefit dinner tickets soon. Once again, we expect to sell out well in advance of the day. There will be NO TICKETS available at the door.
