The Arcadia Marching Band took a trip to Florida between December 29, 2008-January 4, 2009.  The students worked very very hard during the trip.  We thank all directors, staff and chaperones for their help in making this a very successful trip.  View photos and video clips.

Watch our Apaches in Action!

_MG_0762.jpg

Our Apaches have been working very hard since the band season started.  From mid-August, they have had attended marchers camp, music camp, extensive rehearsals on Saturdays and Wednesday nights, and performed in various football games, Placentia, Ayala, Mt. Carmel,  ChinoLa Palma, and Trabuco Hills competitions.  The band season ended with hosting the Arcadia Festival of Bands in mid-November.

Thank you to our Band Historians for taking these videos and spending the time to edit them.  We also thank Inky Production for these videos.

Thank You from Our Director

Thanksgiving is a time to say the things we often think, but don't necessarily take the time to put into words.  I would like to say "Thank You" to the Arcadia Music Club in general for their obvious support of the Instrumental Music Program and Color Guard.  What you do gives our students and instructors a chance to achieve goals that most programs don't even dream of.  In specific, I would like to thank the Music Club Board for its support of the up-coming trip to Florida by extending partial financal assistance to help make-up an unforseen, significant shortfall of money due to a major miscalculation I made early on in the planning stage of this trip.  I want to also thank each family affected by my error for your overwhelming show of support at the information meeting held last Tuesday.  Your public display of support towards the trip and to me was unexpected and unbelievable.  When people ask me what makes our music program so outstanding, I can say without any hesitation: great students and unbelievably committed and supportive parents.  I have used the word "support" often in this note because supporting is one of the things you do so well.  You give me much for which to be thankful.

From a very thankful Band Director,
Tom Landes

Florida Trip December 29, 2008 (UPDATED 10/7/08)

disney.jpg

The Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band and Color Guard has been invited to perform in Jacksonville, Florida at the Konica Football Bowl Game during Christmas break 2008-2009.

We’ve had an excellent response to the upcoming Florida trip with 316 students out of a possible 420 choosing to travel.  Along with the directors and chaperones, we will be 350 strong!

Something to look for in the near future is a personal letter indicating your student’s balance and whether or not forms are still needed.  Remember that full payment is due mid October so that we can meet our requirements of final payments to both the Gator Bowl and Disney World.

Along with our own field show program and our participation in the 2,000 student half time extravaganza at the Gator Bowl game, we will be taking part in the Gator Bowl Parade through the streets of downtown Jacksonville.

We will have one final informational meeting for parents and students (with a chaperone meeting to follow) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 in the AHS North Gym. At least one parent should be there to sign an additional required piece of information for the Gator Bowl and receive updates on the trip.  Read full letter

If your student is going on this trip, and if you have not already done so, please download these consent forms, fill them out and mail them to Arcadia Music Club, P.O. Box 660131, Arcadia, CA  91066-0131.

See you at the meeting on November 25.
