2008 Music Camp - Send In Your Registration Now!!
Believe it or not, it's Music Camp time again. Brochures have been mailed to all students who are enrolled in the music program 2008-09. Early sign ups mean that section leaders know who is coming and don't have to make nearly as many phone calls. Cabin assignments are made in the order in which registration forms are returned. Another Enthusiastic Spring Show 2008
On April 3rd the entire student body of Arcadia High School, and their parents, were treated to another enthusiastic and fun filled concert by Orchestra I (Freshman) and Orchestra II (String) in the North Gym; Concert Bands I & II also participated. Orchestra I started out the evening with Allegro (Sonata No. 4 in d minor), Double Eagle Polka, and Serenade for String Orchestra. Next came Orchestra II with March from Moorside Suite, An African-American Air, and finished with Mantras. The selections from both Orchestras were well received by a very appreciative audience. Freshmen Orchestra's Long Beach Festival Success
On March 19th, the Freshmen Orchestra (Orchestra I) traveled down to the southern end of the Long Beach Freeway and into that City’s Annual Festival. The Freshmen Orchestra played in an outstanding fashion that belied their youth, impressing the judges (to the pleasure of Maestros Forbes and England), thereby receiving ratings of Superior, which is higher than Excellent or Very Good. AHS Symphony Orchestra Inspires at 2008 Vertical Concert
The Arcadia High School Symphony Orchestra raised the musical performance standard another notch on March 26th at the Annual Vertical Concert in Pasadena High School Auditorium. Director Thomas Forbes conducted the unusual, very distinct, and some times eerie sounding, “The Winds of Poseidon” by Robert W. Smith that was inspired by the 3,000+ year old epic “The Odyssey” by Homer. Through the clever utilization of the Ocean Drum and esoteric Whirl Tube, one could hear the water lapping the shore line, feel the wind on their face, and believe they were about to look into the “…purple wine-colored Aegean [sea]”. Arcadia High School Orchestra's 14th Annual Benefit Dinner
It was another outstanding success for the three combined Arcadia High School Orchestras and their 14th Annual Benefit Dinner on February 23rd. This year’s theme, “Mardi Gras Magic”, was well accepted by appreciative parents, fans and all music lovers in attendance at the appropriately decorated (gold, green and purple) Arcadia Community Center. Orchestra I’s (Freshmen) performance at Disney's California Adventure (DCA), on February 9th, was under the baton of Maestro Rick England. Arcadia High School Band and Color Guard perform in Bandfest and Rose Parade
The Arcadia High School Apache Marching Band and Color Guard performed in the Bandfest on December 30, 2007 and in the 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1.

Arcadia High School Music Program Events
Students in the AHS music program, both Band and Orchestra, have been very busy in the last two months. Competitions/Performances were held one after another - Homecoming football game, Fall String Orchestra Concert, Halloween football game, Chino Band Review and Field Tournament, Bands of America competition, Arcadia Festival of Bands Band Review and Field Tournament, SCSBOA Field Tournament Championship, Orchestra 1 Winter Concert, and Orchestra 2 and 3 Holiday Concert. If this is not enough, the band will have Bandfest on December 30 at PCC, and marching in the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, 2008. Students and parents all had a very good time in each of these events. Congratulations to our 2007 Homecoming Queen and King
Congratulations to Senior Class of 2008 Homecoming King Jimmy Chang and Queen Dusty Gibbs and all other Homecoming Royalty. Dusty Gibbs was also named 90th Rose Queen® for the 2008 Tournament of Roses.

Placentia Parade and Etiwanda Field Show
Congratulations to Arcadia Marching Band!! They took Sweepstakes at the Etiwanda Field Show on October 13, 2007. Arcadia also won awards for Music and Overall Effect. The Drum Major and Auxiliary won First Place.
Successful Car Wash
Thank you to our students and parent volunteers who braved the rain for the Car Wash event. You washed 775 vehicles and collected over $2,200 in donations! Thank you to volunteering parents Linda and Khee Chan, and Jean Jaroaz for photos.
Apache Marching Band First Look
The Apache Marching Band put on their uniform first time this school year on Sept. 20 at the home football game. Chaperones were busy doing last minute tailoring and hair spraying. Music Camp 2007 Photos Are Here
The hills of Idyllwild were truly alive with the sound of music made by 585 talented AHS musicians. Orchestra had a record 161 students instructed in large and small groups with outstanding ensembles entertaining in the afternoons. You had to see the salsa to believe it. Over 90% of the band attended flanked by 57 guard members.
A huge thank you goes to those who chaperoned during the week. Thank you to volunteering parent Erik Peterson for taking the photos.
